On the 20th of January 2015 a fashion panel will take place for the first time with Beate Wedekind as moderator and as topic „The new global African aesthetic“. Never before has the African continent been so influential throughout the fashion industry. From the catwalk show of Burberry, Alexander Mcqueen and Yves St. Laurent, to the windows of Topshop and Zara, Africa is now seen everywhere. Looking specifically at the last 6/5 years, the talk will aim at unearthing some of the deeper aesthetic and socio-cultural dynamics at works behind this new phenomenon. It will also question the importance of copyright and trademark and what it means when looking at African regionals and culturals identities. Participating designers of PREMIUM Exhibitions are Alexandra Tamele, De La Sèbure, Studio1981 and Maxhosa by Laduma. Africa Fashion Day Berlin takes place in cooperation with AFRO- POLIS and RAG AND BONE MAN.

The new global African aesthetic“ statt.
