This year’s Africa Fashion Day Berlin (AFDB)  took place on the 20th of January 2015 as a platform for  discussion on “ethnic” fashion in the global market. Unlike the landmark runway shows we had become accustomed to in the past, AFDB took place against the backdrop of Berlin’s PREMIUM. PREMIUM is an international fashion trade show for the high-fashion segment, taking place twice annually in the STATION-Berlin exhibition halls. With more than 60,000 visitors, some 1,500 collections on show, and approximately 23,000 square meters of exhibition space, PREMIUM is the only trade show in the world to bring together premium brands from the fashion and lifestyle sectors at this scale and level of quality.

Here are some highlights from my  day out at the exhibitions  with my friend and Cameroonian DIVA Coko Diamond.

This year, Bradenburg’s capital city Potsdam decided to take away some of Berlin’s glamour by launching their own fashion week event called ‘Potsdam Now’.

Coko Diamond  designed the dress worn by the moderator of the Potsdam Now opening event who is also CEO of Radio Potsdam Ms. Julia Adam.

The good news  doesn’t stop here.  Coko Diamond’s PREESEMA is not only an online shop but has become a business with limited liability (Presema GmbH)  and has gained a new CEO in the person of Ms. Beate Fernengel. She is not only Coko Diamonds business partner but she is the lady boss and president of Potsdam’s chamber of commerce.
