Knowledge Sharing by Google in Africa
Designers from the UX team at Google will be visiting Sub-Saharan Africa to conduct a 2-day workshop in October 2014 for a hands-on user experience masterclass in CapeTown, Nairobi and Lagos.
Attendees at the masterclass will learn the process of taking an idea from concept to launch, including sketching, user testing, prototyping, and the importance of making continuous improvements to keep your users engaged and satisfied. The masterclass will cover interaction and visual design patterns including Material Design. The masterclass will be conducted in collaboration with Flow Interactive (Cape Town), the iHub (Nairobi) and the Pan Atlantic University (Lagos).
This masterclass is suitable for anyone with a passion for creating outstanding user experiences, regardless of whether you are a software developer, product manager, web designer or user experience designer.
There will be a number of resources dedicated to enabling designers and software developers learn and explore with Google on our journey to a more user-friendly web.
These resources include:
google.com/design : A one stop shop for Google design guidelines, downloadable resources and short video tutorials. It includes loads of information on Material Design, a new unified system of visual, motion, and interaction design (inspired by tactile materials, such as paper and ink) that adapts across different devices.
Web fundamentals for developers: A place where software developers can get best practices for modern web development and download the web starter kit that allows them start creating new sites in minutes that follow all of our best practice guidance for all device types.
Android design guidelines: The site for Android designers and developers where you can learn how to ensure that your users have a truly world class experience when they use your app.
